6th Draft Complete!

Almost a month ago I posted that I had completed the first complete draft of the script.  I am pleased to report that I have now finished what I am referring to as the 6th draft, thanks to the help of a bunch of people that really gave me in-depth feedback on the script and kept me motivated.  I am confident that this is the best version of the script yet and hope to have it locked very shortly.

And once the script is locked...the fun begins.

As well as the headaches of scheduling, planning, shot lists, storyboards, location scouting, costumes, props, crew, long hours of shooting and little sleep--but I promise all of you it will be worth it.

This may be the most hopeful I've ever felt going into a quarter.  There is so much fun to be had and good work to be done, and I find myself surrounded by the most talented, devoted, and nicest people I could wish for--and they all happen to also be amazing friends.

Good times await, I'll keep you updated.

Application to Film 196

So in order to get into the final class required to graduate for a Film Production major, you have to apply to the class: Film 196.  You write a script and a treatment and plan your shoot and other work like that; 15 are accepted and many apply.

I am pleased to announce that both myself and Alex have gotten into it as of today.  So congratulations to him and the rest of my friends who got in.

Now there are no excuses, it's time to start making the movie.  This is going to be fun.

03-06-08: Game on.

A First Response

So, my name is Scott Marden, and I am fortunate enough to be playing Andrew Stills in this film that Michael has created.

I just finished reading the first draft that was sent to me a few hours ago, and I have to say, that I'm very excited to be working on this project, and really honored to be working with Michael and Jourdan again, and after seeing what Shashona and Alex can do, I'm very excited to get to know them.

The weird thing is that this is something that my acting teacher once told me would not happen for many years. Somewhere wrote a part with me specifically in mind. Pretty sweet. So, thanks Mike.

The other weird thing is that I find myself in a similar position to Andrew in terms of where my life is. As Mike mentioned in an earlier post, I graduated in June from Southern Oregon, and so I've spent the last nine months trying to settle myself into the "real world" which is way bigger than anyone tells you. Like going from Final Fantasy VII to Fallout 2 without any guides or instruction books. Yea, I went there.

The point is, I feel connected to this guy, and that makes me stoked to get started, because I think the situations in this movie, at least as it is now, are situations that everyone can relate to. Granted not everyone has OCD, but I feel that is more a representation of obstacles that everyone faces every day, so, it's just a manifestation of fears and what not.

These are just my initial thoughts, and if, after you see the movie, you completely disagree, I'll buy you lunch. For real.

Well, that's all for now. Hope you keep tuning in.

First Draft Finished

As of 3:49 AM, March 3rd 2008, the first draft of The Reunion of Amilia Marbleberry and Marcy Stills is completed.

There is still a LOT of work to do on it and is by no means done, but this is at least the first incarnation of the complete story.  It has been emailed to the the people I email it too, and hopefully with their help I can get it to a really good place.  Nonetheless, it's taken six months to get it to this place, and I'm quite glad to be here.

Forgive me if I'm a bit gushy, but it's very early.  I want to thank everyone that's kept me going.  You are amazing and awesome and....  Well, I'll save all the really emotional stuff for when the film is actually completed.  Until then, thanks.

Also, this is what my desk looks like right now.  Those with keen eyes can spot the cake mix.
